And would this manifest itself when the engine increased in temperature? I have an auto electrician coming to see it tomorrow over the phone he suggested it might be an earthing fault,as the engine got hotter there was an increased build up of electrical resistance in the system I am not sure this sounds right? WoodsmanSep 8, Sep 8, 2. Worn sensors could also act up when temperature rises in the engine bay. I've already had a car that would run fine until you stop for 5 min and then start it again.
Crankshaft sensors would start throwing errors because of the heat building up under the bonnet when stopped, putting the car into limp mode, and this condition would solve itself just by keeping driving it. CapsuleSep 8, Sep 9, 3. XplayaSep 9, Sep 9, 4.

On the other hand, as I now have constant monitoring of the ECU temperature, I just couldn't resist the challenge of making it as low as possible in all conditions of use of the car.
I believe I even went a little overboard On the odometer I read Km The Images ForestVtFeb 14, Constant ECU temp monitoring.? It is an evolution of the concept Thermal box to protect the ECU in the parking lot immediately after traveling in congested traffic. A condition in which, if there is no natural ventilation, the engine compartment becomes a true pizza oven. A temperature controller with PT sensor controls a small fan.
It consumes about 50ma of the battery while monitoring a maximum limit - when the fan is activated; and a lower limit - when the fan is turned off. In addition, a duct for collecting fresh air with a intake point located below the car's headlight, right behind the bumper and outside the oven area. The only hot air outlet that I was able to identify in a practical way, to keep the ECU in this position, was through the side breach of the hood cover.
For this, I cut out a piece of the hood's thermal lining. For sale is this engine gearbox package out of this SS Ute. Tailshaft included. This is a full package perfect for an engine conversion into a drift car or something like that.

Am I able to do it without a scantool? I have heard about removing a fuse and turning ignition on but don't exactly know the correct Fuse and correct way of doing it but by saying that, Does that way actually clear the codes?
Jun 25, 2. You could disconnect the negative battery cable for a few minutes. That will clear the codes but if you have the stock radio you will need the PIN when you reconnect the battery.
Trackerd11 likes this. Jun 25, 3. I've heard that you can't do it that way on the VT's Something about a Capacitor holds charge still even though the Battery is disconnected but i could have heard the wrong thing for the wrong model. Jun 25, 4. However this method will not reset any codes that have been set in other modules such as the airbag SDM Sensing and Diagnostic Module.
Jun 26, 5. I did do it that way and I even left it overnight disconnected and checked codes as soon as I reconnected the battery and the codes did not clear. The codes I am trying to clear is Code 47 and Code I have fixed the issues that these have caused and the codes will not clear.
Jun 26, 6. Make sure engine is at operating temperature above 80 degrees - you can check this by going into police mode hold down Start and Mode buttons together as you start it and scroll through the menus until you get to the digital temperature readout. Or use the normal temperature gauge, either works 2. Turn off the ignition. Remove the engine management fuse it's a red 10amp fuse no. It's labelled "BCM" 4. Turn the ignition on. Do NOT try to crank the engine over, just turn it on and wait.
After seconds you should hear the dash make a chiming sound. Replace the BCM fuse. Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes to let it relearn idle settings etc. Zeke Topanaga likes this. Wont I then lose all settings and have to reset my head unit and what not? Mar 21, 4. There is another thread here about pulling the fuse for the engine ecu to reset it without losing other settings - clock, etc. Previous quote "You can reset the ECU back to default by taking the engine fuse out for 30 seconds. I ended up just doing the negative terminal on the battery May have just been my imagination but I think car did run smoother on take-offs where i was having the problem before.

I took my battery out due to it being flat as a pan cake, when I put the battery back in, everything was exactly as it was before I took it out, I did not have to re-set anything. The only thing I can think of is it must write the info to a Rom Chip like they have in computers. RonaldwMar 22,
